OCTOBER is MINISTER APPRECIATION MONTH...please everyone say a thank you to the ministers at Allen Chapel for their hard work and dedication. Wouldn't it be nice to let our Pastor and Ministers know how valuable they are to Allen? In honor of our ministers there will be a special fellowship in the Multipurpose Room after the 11:00am service on the fifth Sunday, October 31st.
The WELCOMING ARMS MINISTRY invites you to attend “GriefShare” sessions. This is a series of 13 sessions and each session will be held monthly on the 1st and 3rd Saturday beginning at 9AM in room 301. Just come on in and join us, there is no need to register in advance. DOCTRINE CLASS - The Director of Christian Education and the Church School are holding classes on Biblical Doctrine on the first and second Monday of every month at 6:30 pm in the Library. If you have ever wondered or needed more information on such topics as Baptism, Sacraments, the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Creed, etc., then join us. There will be no class on October 11th. Calling all girls of Allen Chapel A.M.E. interested in dance - OIL OF JOY have resumed rehearsals for this dance season. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:30pm -8:30pm. The EVANGELISM AND OUTREACH MINISTRY is selling Florida citrus for delivery December 4, 2010. The proceeds from this sale will go towards helping to finance mission teams from Allen in response to the Great Commission. We are more than a bible study group, more than a ministry, but we are a sisterhood and we need you! The MISSING LINK MINISTRY (MLM) will be meeting at Allen on Thursday, October 28th at 7pm in the Library on the 2nd floor. All members of the MLM, and all others who would like to join the ministry, are encouraged and invited to attend. The MLM supports and provide services to incarcerated and previously incarcerated persons. This very special population needs your support. The FOOD PANTRY is accepting donations for Thanksgiving Baskets. We are asking that your donations of turkeys, non-perishable items of canned vegetables (corn, green beans, yams, etc.) stuffing, etc. be given by Sunday, November 21, 2010. Your monetary donation of $10.00 or more will be gladly accepted and will go toward purchasing items for the Thanksgiving Baskets. PRISON MINISTRY ANGEL TREE: OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2010. Time is approaching once again to bless God's children of an incarcerated parent for Christmas. THANKSGIVING DAY DINNER AT ALLEN. We will be delivering Thanksgiving Day Dinner to a shelter in Southeast and to City of Hope as well as providing dinner here at the church. We need Poultry and Vegetable Chefs, teams for setup and cleanup, cakes and pies, tasters and testers and lots of Allen smiles. The MISSING LINK MINISTRY (MLM) is gearing up for our Fall-Winter Hygiene Campaign and we need your support. As in years past, we have collected hygiene items for both men and women who are incarcerated in the DC Jail and Halfway Houses. For each Sunday, up until December 19th, we will be collecting Soap, Deodorant, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes and Lotion. We are asking that you would bring these items as often as you can so that we might provide Christmas Bags for them, filled with these much-needed items. As you may or may not know, The DC Jail does not provide these items to them. Please try a bring REGULAR TO LARGE size items. For more information, please contact Rev. Yvonne M. LADY BELL'S CLOSET FOR THE HOMELESS is empty. There is space in the closet for your donations of new or like new coats for men, women, and children. The shelves need to be stocked with socks, hats, scarfs, and gloves. New or like new blankets will also help. Get prepared to help in the distribution of these needed items. God bless you as we share our blessings with the homeless!
